Drugs are everywhere, easily bought and quickly consumed. We have drugs for almost every ailment and pain: depression, anxiety, fear, ADD, headaches, stomach turmoil, and arthritis, just to name a few.
But what about busyness? Ah, that can easily be cured by more busyness, fueled by adrenaline!
Adrenaline keeps us up, going, doing and performing with no end in sight. We can call on it at any time, and it will pump energy into our tiredness so we can finish our day- only to go into the next day. It is an addictive drug, accepted and applauded in our culture and it is also a killer, if abused (as is any drug). It is thrills and excitement and a rush and energy galore.
But ask yourself, does it hold meaning? Is it powered by spiritual passion? Does it produce eternal fruit? Is Jesus at the core of every involvement in your daily life? Does he fuel your motions, message, methods, mission and motivation? If not, you just might be running by adrenaline instead of reigning by Abba.
Adrenaline or Abba?
The addiction of choice or the adoration of Christ?
The adrenaline rush or the amazing Redeemer?
Your choice. Choose wisely.
