Here’s the setting: It’s 1063 B.C. in the Elah Valley, 20 miles southwest of Jerusalem in Israel. The Israelite army is getting ready to do battle with the Philistine army, their enemies.
Some giant of a guy (9 feet tall, to be exact, and Goliath was his name) is taunting the Israelite warriors who are quaking in their boots. Goliath had a strong hold on the Israelite fighters, and fear was winning the day.
Enter a shepherd boy, David, with not a suit of armor but with just a sling and a stone, and down fell Goliath!
David conquered the stronghold of the Philistine army by his strong suit, and you know the rest of the story. From stronghold to strong suit with just a sling and a stone.
Moral of this drama?
Use the strong suit of your faith, the armor of God,
to conquer your giant.
