According to ClosetMaid, in the U.S. 25% of women have more than 50 pairs of shoes in their closets. And according to the Census Bureau, there are 157M women in the U.S., 84M of which are mothers. Some 30M are 25 years or older and graduated with bachelor’s degree. Another 11M are currently college students. That means American homes could easily contain 2-3 billion womens’ shoes.
And that’s in addition to a national average of 88 pieces of clothing – excluding undergarments – in an typical American’s wardrobe, so reports the Cotton Inc. Lifestyle Monitor.
