Lasting celebrations through family traditions

The very best use of time is to invest it. One great way to wisely invest your time is by creating lasting family traditions.

And now, with Thanksgiving approaching, all the better to maintain those long-held traditions, and even create some new ones.

Smiles and laughter balanced with reflection and celebration.

Our Nation celebrates traditions, too: Presidents, Martin Luther King, Veterans, Memorial and Independence days. On October 3, 1863, President Lincoln declared that the fourth Thursday of November would be the official federal holiday of Thanksgiving. This coming November will make 150 Thanksgivings we’ve celebrated as a nation. And we’ve never missed a single one!

If you need fresh ideas on starting your own fun and inspirational family traditions, try these websites to jump start your imagination:

1. Traditions are the glue that keeps a family together.  “We all have very busy lifestyles, and adding a small tradition here or there can make all the difference to your family.”  (by TSH Family Traditions: 10 ideas.)

2. Start a Family Tradition! “8 wonderful ways to create family memories, beginning in your baby’s first year.” (by Sascha Zuger at parenting.com)

3. The importance of family traditions. “As families become more fragmented and disconnected, there is less time and opportunity to enjoy the simple traditions that were once a natural part of family life.” (by Karen Banes at Hubpages)

Have any great ideas that you have used and are worth sharing. Let me know!

Sue’s Story

I've been a professional organizer most of my adult life. Who I am and why I love my work comes from how I was raised and the mysteries of DNA!

From the most humble of beginnings in Kentucky to helping businesses and organizations across the U.S., I always try my best to share both practical and inspirational principles and techniques.

I hope you enjoy your visit here and come back often. And feel free to call or email anytime.

Even though you might reach me on my porch looking out at the Colorado Rockies, a born and bred Kentucky girl enjoys a good chat.
