Sometimes scripture is so clear and profound, but we miss its power when we do the opposite of what it clearly tells us to do. Here are a few Bible verses that are plain as day about how we are to speak! This is not just about others but also about our own lives.
“Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.” (Psalm 34: 13) That means also don’t tell lies about yourself. Don’t agree with the enemy, but agree with what God has said about you in scripture.
“Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.” (Proverbs 13:3) Ouch!
“Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.” (Proverbs 21:23)
“Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.” (James 1:26)
“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.” (1 Peter 3:10)
There is life and death in the power of our tongues. Your tongue steers your day; your talk veers your destiny. What you sow, you reap. What you say you receive. You get what you say (Numbers 14:1-38). Speak words of faith- they are in your mouth. (Romans 10:8).
Don’t be hung by your tongue.
