For Heaven Sake, Organize Before You Remodel or Move
How many of you have ever remodeled your kitchen, home office, or bedroom?
How many have thought about remodeling or moving your professional office due to lack of space?
Hundreds of people have, and guess what they don’t consider before they remodel or move? Organizing the area first!
Know why? It’s sexy to remodel or move. It is painfully hard to reorganize.
And what do they get for all of this huge expense of remodeling or moving? New space for their clutter.
I have lost count of the clients that have told me, “Oh I wish that I had waited and hired you before I had this remodel done.”
Here’s what a designer/architect will say to you, “Oh, you want this? We can add that. (Cha-ching $$) !”
BUT, here is what an organizer will say to you, “No, you might not want that. Consider how necessary it is, and if it’s not necessary, eliminate it.”
For heaven sake, organize before you remodel or move. Even in your professional office, do not remodel or move before you hire an organizer. They will save you thousands of dollars and hours of headache and stress.
I once actually saved a young couple $100,000 (their words) regarding their remodel. The way the designer had drawn out the plans simply allowed for their massive clutter to be repositioned into their new area. That is obscene! I reorganized their whole house (costing them mere pennies on the dollar that a remodel would cost) and voila, they didn’t need the extra space. Imagine that!
The next time you encounter a designer/architect to solve your space problems, consider an organizing consultant first. You will love me for this idea.
